Welcome to the forum

Sounds like your off to a good start. You might want to check out 2gnt, they have a lot more info on there then this forum does regarding the 420a motor. I suggest you become more familiar with the car before trying to put a turbo on it. Might want to check out hahnracecraft.com also.

Do a complete tune up on the car before anything else. Plugs, wires, fuel filter, make sure you have no leaks, and all that good shit. A lightweight under-drive pulley is a good upgrade for the 420a, as well as a bored throttle body. Anything more than that and you'll be doing major upgrades such as port/polish on the head, valve job, cams, bigger exhaust, etc.

Re: alright so i got my eclipse

A tune up shouldn't cost you more than ~$100, and you can get UDPs on ebay for cheap.

And no one cares that you're lazy, if you don't type so we can somewhat understand it, then you probably won't get any help. Just drop the "c wat i mean" and the "dawg" like eclipse said and you'll be fine, you don't have to type "proper" english, but at least make it so we can read it once without having to go back through 10 times like I did in your third post.

Thanks and welcome to AF.

Re: alright so i got my eclipse

This is true, if I cant understand what a thread starter is saying/asking I generally dont even bother trying to answer. Spending the extra 20 seconds per post to make it readable is going to go a long way in terms of the help and quality of help you are going to get.

Secondly, you should do a search before you ask a question. Many topics (including this one) have been covered many times and the regulars get tired of answering them twice a week all the time.

Now as for making power, in my honest opinion, you picked the wrong platform. Sure the 420a can be a good motor, but there is a few problems with it. For one, making any decent amount of power is going to take a lot of work and most likely a turbo. Turboing a car isnt for the faint of heart, you really gotta know what you're doing otherwise you will end up with a blown ass motor and no whip. So you do all kinds of research and piece together a decent turbo kit. Now what? After you get a good fuel setup, the turbo and everything related to it, and all the other misc bolt ons needed to make use of the turbo, you still have a FWD car which is going to be hell to try to get to hook. Not only is that going to take a lot of work, but its going to take a lot of money as well and by the time you get to the level of a slightly modded GST, you will be in a good couple thousand dollars deeper than him. The other problem I see is that if you do get that far, the 420a has an open deck block which can cause all sorts of fun problems at higher power levels. If you really want a good, fast car sell the RS and get a GST or GSX, read up, and have fun.

This is not bad treatment towards him at all. There really is no reason for the whole dat and c crap when it takes a whole 2 seconds more to type that and see...

A basic tune up is always a great help to any vehicle for performance and longevity of it's life...

Re: alright so i got my eclipse

alright so aparently i angered people with my laziness to type...get over it....now tell me if theres any difference in brands...people tell me this and that brand is better than this one or that one. I dont see a difference. An intake is an intake, an exhaust is an exhaust, a turbos a turbo..but what do yall think..is there some difference in gettin a certain brand for a certain part?

ok this is why I joined this site i was well unaware of the open deck block problem. Anyway i can do something about it so that i dont get any problems or am i better of just selling it and getting a GSX. Which was my plan at one point was to sell my car and get a turbo eclipse but i changed my mind but I see all the things i have to do just to get on its level. i was hoping i could just make modifications and live with the car I have now but I may end up going back to my original plan to sell the car. But before I make a decision on that..I still would like to know if there is any way of dealing with the open deck problem..and if different brands for certain parts means anything???
