Front blower does not work

I have a 98 windstar 3.0. My front blower will not come on at all, in any position...AC, floor, vents, defrost nothing. I checked the fuse and it's fine. I unplugged the connectors at each end and cleaned them too. My next plan is to change out the blower speed switch but I wanted to check here first. If anyone can point me in the right direction, I would appreciate it.

I had to replace the blower dropping resistor.
I posted pictures of it in my pictures.
It looks like a couple of springs.....which are the actual resistors.
Mine rusted and broke.

The part is not very expensive, and it is easy to replace.
It is located up under the dashboard.....behind the glove box.
You will see a connector on the bottom of the ductwork.
I got my new replacement from my local FORD dealer.

You will be able to find the blower behind the glove box... Just push the ends in and it will drop the glove box to view...

Mine gave me high speed on all settings except for the lowest....which gave me nothing.
When I removed the resistor assembly, I saw that 1 end of one spring had broken free....and was against another metal spot on the assembly.

So, in short, your problem could very well be caused by this part.

In addition to the coiled wire resistors, there is a small solid material resistor.
This solid resistor acts as a fuse to prevent the motor from buring out.

I would certainly look into it before going after the blower motor itself.....cheaper and easier.

Well, I just checked the resistors and they look fine. I guess I'll try the blower switch next...then after that the blower as a last resort.

Just a quick note,you can test the blower with a 9volt battery and jumper wires it works fine. You just unplug the harness to the blower and the van wont need to be on. Just a quick easy way..
