'04 Wrangler Steering Vibration and then some...
Okay heres one for you guys.
What I have: 04 Jeep Wrangler SE NO LIFT(Suspension OR Body) 225 70 R15 Discoverer ATR tires on STOCK rims 30,000 miles on it, less then 5 hours off road and mostly just easy trail and some mud. My Problems: 1.) At exactly 51 mph the front end begins to vibrate, shaking the steering wheel almost out of my hands, while this is happening i can look out the window and visibly see the front (driver side, obivously) wheel shakeing. When I first bought this with 11,000 miles on it last year i had the same problem, I took it back to the dealer and they "fixed" it. I was told by them that it was an issue with my front right rotor. After that it stopped. I then put new tires on, and a couple of brake jobs. Got some pull to the left, got it alinged and balanced. Now the tires have about 5,000 miles on them and the shaking has started again. I had the alingment and balancing checked out, which came back fine. Still shaking... So i was told to try replacing the stabilizer shock.... What I want to know... Do you have any ideas? Agree with the stabilizer shock diagnoses? I dont want to drop even more money on something that i dont need to. 2.) This problem MIGHT be directly related to the first .... While driveing the vehicle emits an screeching sound coming from the front end, i cant tell wether its the left side or right, or both... It sounds LIKE and audible on the brakes, it is most definatly NOT... It only makes the sound when the wheels are a few degrees left of center and while moving at a speed higher then 30 usually. It does NOT always make the sound. It happens more often when I have been driving for more then 5 or 10 mins.(Heat related?) This was diagnosed recently as possibly being my U joints. Does that sound right? So if anyone has a clue PLEASE I am not made of money and dont want to replace my entire steering system. So anyhelp is greatly appreciated! Re: '04 Wrangler Steering Vibration and then some...
Problem, solved, got a Steering Damnener from my local NAPA and installed. Cost me 30 bucks and half an hour of my time. I still need new tires, but no more crazy vibrations...
