1997 Just quit running

1997 Passport 189,000 miles, 25,000 on timming belt,

I was cruzing down the interstate at 65-70 mph and it just stopped running. No check engine light, AC and radio were on and working fine. I guess the alternator would shut those off before engine loss.

Recent issue is slipping in 1st gear when cold. I was going to do a fluid add this week. Any ideas?

What happens when you try to start it? Have you popped a timing belt cover to take a look.

Re: 1997 Just quit running

It cranks and I thought it sounded like it was cycling through compression strokes. It seems low on cranking power though. Tonight I am going to clean all the grounds, charge the battery and maybe even have the alternator checked.
