Camaro Transmission Noise?
Hi guys,
I was driving the other day, and probably was driving a little too hard because when I pulled up to the next stop sign, and went to take off, my car made a hard thump noise (can also feel by arm on console) which sounded like it came from underneath the shifter or possibly underneath the center console. It only does it only when you step on it taking off or shifting at higher rpms around 3500 to 5500. The transmission does not slip, and it doesn't do it when you take off easy or are not running it hard, so it has me kind of stumped. I checked the bolts holding the crossmember underneath the transmission and they are tight. What should I be looking for? 1993 Camaro Z28 automatic shifter on floor. |

Re: Camaro Transmission Noise?
The rubber on the transmission mount is broken/torn free. Go under the sar with a jack and jack up the rear of the transmission while looking at the rubber mount on the crossmember. You'll see a crack appear and get big enough to see through. With the trans supported, remove the crossmember and the trans mount. Mounts cost $20-$30 at most auto parts stores.
