idle

on an 02 ls what are is the idel speed. when started goes to 1500rpm then down to about 700-850 nothing lower

That sounds pretty normal. You might get a more accurate response if you mention if you have the V6 or V8, but both should idle around the same engine speed, and what you describe sounds reasonable.

Is there a specific reason you ask?

its a v8, it just seemed odd to idle that high

rite...i posted the same thing on page 1 of the forums. i was told either the egr valve or the iac valve. im checking my car tom.

My 2004 V8, depending on ambivalent temp, from cold starts at 1,500 to 1,700 rpms for 10 to 15 sec. then comes down to 800 rpms. It has done this from day one.
