Car dies after getting on it???

Ok everyone I have a 97 GST and I have been having a problem with it stalling after I give it almost full throttle? Sometimes i let off and it will almost die but will jump back up to normal rpms and sometimes it will die after i let off. any ideas? Other than that it runs fine. No CELs.

It looks like your venting your bov in the pic from your sig. That could be your problem.

Hey man, good to see ya again. Boost leaks? Its not making any extra engine noise i.e. ticking is it?

Re: Car dies after getting on it???

Yeah I am venting, but I don't think there is a way to recirc the Apexi dual chamber BOV is there? The only ticking i hear is lifter tick and thats only when I first start it up or its almost time for an oil change for the most part.

Hey thor! i haven't been around hear as much lately because I am so busy lol you know how it is. I'm actually thinking about selling the ol' DSM but I can't with it doing this..... I want a truck REALLY bad and i need something a little more reliable and newer. I hate to get rid of her but life goes on i suppose.

Re: Car dies after getting on it???

Im going to say its your bov not recirculating. You run so rich when you let off the throttle that it bogs the car down. See if you can somehow recirculate that one to see if it helps, or put another one on it if you have one.

I don't have another one. Does anyone know how to recirculate this BOV?

Re: Car dies after getting on it???

I also kinda have the BOV rigged on there because I can't find a flange for the apexi BOV that fits a greddy flange! so it may be leaking. It seems like i have looked EVERYWHERE!

Re: Car dies after getting on it???

there has to be SOME way of recirculating it. I dont see why they would make a $2-300 BOV that you CAN'T recirculate! Anyone??

Cut some hose and use some duct tape I guess.

Re: Car dies after getting on it???

Im surprised you have no CEL's. When I vented mine to atmosphere, I got about 3 codes. It would run fine until I came to a stop, or pushed the clutch in, then it would try to cut off on me. Thats a strange looking BOV, I'm not sure how you would go about recirculating it. Unless you can buy a recirculation kit, like you can on the HKS BOV's. What kind of BOV flange is that on your UICP?

Re: Car dies after getting on it???

the UICP has a Greddy flange. will the 1g BOV fit on that flange?
This is actually the one I have:

Re: Car dies after getting on it???

I had the same problem on my GS-T. Under heavy boost or when I would stomp it, sometimes the car would die. (I also did not pull any CELS)

I had the same BOV as you. I swapped it out to a Greddy RS with Greddy UICP, and no change. I am willing to bet it is NOT your BOV.

Just because he doesn't have it recirculating doesn't mean it magically is the cause to all his problems. Does having a vented blow off valve cause problems? Sometimes, but I doubt that is what this is.

As to what is causing it? Don't know, I never figured it out on mine.

Re: Car dies after getting on it???

I forgot to say that it doesn't die if it is in gear when I let off the gas its just if I put it in neutral or push in the clutch after giving it a decent ammount of gas (not WOT).

Okay, that's completely different than what your post above makes it seem like. Perhaps it could be your BOV. Although I had that exact same one and never had a problem. I suppose it effects each car differently.
