82 silverado

I have an 82 chevy silverado with a 305 and 224,000 miles on it. I'm putting a little work into it to make it driveable. Does anyone know what the gas mileage is on a vehicle like this? And is there any way to make it any better? Thanks

I had an 85 and got about 15 mpg. Traded it in for a 98 and I am getting 20 mpg and both trucks were about the same. Just better computer control.

You can make MPG by putting a smaller carb on it. You will loose HP, but if Gas miliage is what you want. then go that route.
