More trans problems

A while back I posted this thread but got no replies...

Ses P0740
Have a friend with a 1997 Ram 1500 with the 360 V8. His SES light came on and is giving code P0740. Torque Converter Clutch Circuit Malfunction. Has anyone seen this problem before? Will it be expensive? Are there any simple/inexpensive things to try before he brings it into the shop for depressing news?

He took the truck into our best transmision guy in town and the he could not find the problem. He told him to bring it to the Dodge dealer that it might be in the PCM. The truck is now giving this symptom. It will work fine and shift properly for about the first few minutes of driving. Once it starts to warm up it will not shift anymore. It will just stay in first gear.

Re: More trams problems

Sorry it took so long to reply. No one knows just exactly what the problem was. He drove it to the Dodge dealer one night with a friend following in case something went wrong. Well something went terribly wrong and he destroyed the trans. If I can remember correctly it cost him around $3,000+ to replace the transmission with a factory rebuild.
