Passlock Bypass With A Resistor?????

Hey everyone!
I guess I'm not the only one crying over this passlock junk. I went through the other passlock tread or most of it anyways. It looks like the best way to fix it is to use the resistor method that ponchonutty talked about on page 5 of that thread.
I took an ohm reading like he said to do and got 3.28 K ohms. A lot higher then he got with his, like 6.24 ohms. Can anyone tell me who has used this method if this is right? I know that GM used several different ohm values, so I figure this must just be one of them. Radio Shack has a 3.3k Ohm resistor that I can get. They have two options, one rated at .5 watts and one at .25 watts. Which one should I get, or should I look for an automotive type resistor at a parts store?
Poncho also said to connect the resistor to the yellow going to the BCM and to tap into the black wire. Can I just cut the black wire and connect it on the non switch side to the resistor or does the black wire still need to go to the switch as well?

I'd just buy a universal GM passlock II bypass module. I did just that some years back for the 1998 K1500 p/u I installed a remote start on. The instructions for the bypass module will tell where to tie it in. The one I had, had a dip switch bank to 'dial in' in the resistance value for that specific ignition. You could go the Radio Crash route and just buy a resistor with the value you need. Just tie the resistor in exactly where you took your resistance reading from.
