1995 3.1 buick sylark coolant issues

We have a 1995 buick skylark 3.1 v6. While it was being driven the engine overheated and when the vehicle got home we found that the coolant fan was not working, i've checked all fuses and everything i'm pretty sure its just the fan motor, but while i was playing with the fan i noticed that there was coolant coming out of one of the firewall hoses, i've spoken to a few people and they think i need a new heater core but my floorboards are not wet, so im thinking it might just be a bad hose? Anyone have any experience with this and can help i would appreciate the help.

I have a similar issue, except my coolant comes out of the cap. Car begins to overheat at slow speeds. I just turn the AC on Max and level one, that turns the fan on and cools the car down to norm.

the heater core needed to be replaced, after it was replaced and had coolant running through it the fan kicked on itself.

How much is this deal, as far as labor...Can i keep driving like this as long as i don't let her over heat???

What are my consequences of the heater core failing?

I don't think it would hurt it. I remember seeing cars with the heater hoses disconnected but it's something I wouldn't do myself... You might call a dealer's service center and ask about the labor rate for a job like that.

ours was 240 but i consider mine a good deal i didnt want to rip the dash off, and as far as i know u can still run it the way it is, if all else fails u can get a bypass and not even worry bout the heater core but u may or may not know u wont be able to use any heat and prolly not cold air either.

Thumbs up Re: 1995 3.1 buick sylark coolant issues

Hello guys, I to own a 95 SKYLARK, love the car but it has issues. The overheat thing, I found out the hard way that GM built a great V6 motor but they used a poor design. Between the intake and the engine they used a plastic piece that after a period of time just starts to break down and allows coolant into the engine, causing overheating and poor heating, ect ect you get the picture, if you catch it i ntime you can save a ton of money. I am not not auto mech but thats what they told me at the garge when they replced my motor, after several "second opinions" they all said they same thing about this common problem in this motor. hope this helps. I am having problems with my rear lights (running) coming on, I think it is that dam multi switch, any ideas?
