Trans identification/serial numbers

Where can I go/ or how do I decode the transmission numbers to determine what year it is? Thanks guys/girls.

Theres a VIN number on the trans. Decode the VIN to tell what year it came from

great...I think i recorded the part number instead of the VIN...F4A331MN01 / BU6927

well its an Automatic 4 speed from a 3000GT, but i couldn't find anything matching MN01. lots of similar codes, but not that one in particular. it just denotes which year the transmission is from.

post up your VIN and Jason_bet can tell you everything. however, if your transmission is not the original one that came with your car, then there's not much more we can do.

Thanks for all your help guys! I will try to get the VIN off in a couple days. I have a 91 stealth and put in a new trans which is newer so I have to change the intermediate shaft and pass. axel. I ordered a 93 3000gt shaft and axel so I'm hopeing it works. I'm guessing the trans isnt newer than 96 so I think i'm ok.
