1986 Toyota Cressida smoking

1986 Cressida, smokes at start up and at take off from a stop. While driving it stops, when I stop and then take off, it blows out a puff of smoke for a second.
Any ideas?

Sounds like bad value guides but it might be bad rings. Try looking up Toyota recalls about rings. I think I remember one a long time ago. How many miles ?

almost certainly you need new valve stem seals, These go bad about every 60K miles. 6hours of labor to change them.
