Regal low shift points
I've got a 95 Buick Regal that shifts too soon, in my opinion. Is it possible to get a ecu from another car, say a grand prix, and interchange it to get a higher shift point? Another question is if I could get the supercharger from another regal, or any 3.8 (gm) and bolt it right on, if i would have to change the computer too?

There are specifications on where the trans should shift. Try looking them up. Yes you would need the computer and sensors for the turbo.

He was looking for a supercharger solution not turbo. Although any job or mod may be possible this is an exercise in futility. Putting a supercharger on either the Vin "L" or Vin "K" 3800 engines is not exactly a bolt on operation or that easy.
The Grand Prix ECU (computer) will not work in your Regal.

Well is there any ecu I can put in that would change the shift points a littler higher, maybe closer to redline?

your car has a 4T60E trans that still uses a vacuum modulator to regulate shift points. It's possible that the diaphram is weak and allowing it to shift to soon. Fram makes an adjustable modulator that has a set screw in the vacuum line that allows for shift point adjustment with no need to touch the ECM.

FYI. Actually the adjustable vacuum modulators allow only for the ability to slightly raise/lower part throttle shift points and line pressures. At WOT or pedal to the metal ineffective. ECU must be re-programmed to properly raise factory shift points which are programmed into the ECU and primarly controlled by the ECU. The problem is I don't recall any performance chips even from companies like Jet available for a '95 Regal with the Vin "L" 3800. '96/97 and up versions with the SII 3800 Vin "K" no problem since many companies make re-programmed PCM/ECM modules like DHP but this is of no value to the OP.
I think this OP is looking for a solution(s) for more power and better transmission control and none of it looks attractive or feasible. One cheap way to increase shifting performance is to use manual shifting and watching the good old tach. But not good to overrev or good for fuel economy.

Well that sucks, cuz it shifts aroun 4k rpms, and it shows redline at 5500-6000 rpm, and i know there can be a lot more power let out of it, if the trans allowed.

That doesn't sound right. Sounds more like a bonifide problem. Is this at partial, mid or full throttle? The shift points should be well above 5500 rpms when accelerator is floored and you are in automatic D or OD - Overdrive.

I agree with Bob. The factory shift point at WOT should be much closer to red-line, say 5500-5800 rpm. Could be a TPS with a bad spot toward the WOT side, not giving the ECM the correct signal as to throttle position.

Well it is at WOT (full throttle) that it shifts at 4k. I'll try to take a look at the TPS. And I'm in automatic overdrive.
