Shift Solenoid Valve Replacement
I recently bought a 01 LeSabre Custom, now with 85k miles. I'm starting to get that "Doesn't go into gear" effect after the car has been parked for a few hours. Put it in drive or reverse, and there's LOTS of slippage, then BANG, it engages and everything's fine. Unitll I park it.
My research led me to reference a TSB about the 1-2, 3-4 Shift Solenoid assembly, which is a pretty cheap part. (Both meanings) Is this something I should consider replacing in the driveway with hand tools, or should I just take it to a pro? Or am I barking up the wrong tree? |

Welcome to AFs! Have you checked the fluid level and fluid condition? When was the last time it was changed? The filter could be pluged??? Sorry I don't know if this is a DIY job. Regards Dan

Re: Shift Solenoid Valve Replacement
Fluiid looks clean & a nice red. I bought the car from a Saturn Dealer, they may have changed it? Level is perfect.
