328i ABS/ASC issue?

Hi, all this is my first post!

I have a 1998 328i with 156k on it. The ASC and ABS cluster lights are both on, whenever the key is on. The two problems began at teh same time. I first thought it was an intermittent so I waited it out a few weeks, and the symptom has not changed. I think something in those systems or common to those systems is really out of commission.

I notice no differences in drivability or control, but winter is coming and this car needs its ASC, traction control, and ABS.

Help me with some insight as to what might be going on to create this indication and what the bill might be. The car is getting fairly old, and if it's a (another!!!) $2000 repair, I might just trade in the car.
