04 sporttrac rough idle

My sporttrac idles rough for about 2 seconds at a stop it has only done this twice the last time it did this was yesterday does anyone know whats going on i hope its nothing bad runaround

Try cleaning the throttle plate on the back side and the IAC.

The throttle plate is in the throttle body. The part that controls the air flow that you control with the accelerator. The IAC(Idle air control) is the by pass air that controls the idle speed. It is usually on the throttle body.

You should also check the EGR valve to make sure it is not restricted/contaminated, preventing it from fully closing at idle.
