Smile F1 Tyre Walls

Has anyone got any tips on preparing some tyre walls for a tamiya 1/20 f1 car?

normally i would just leave the tyre wall the way it is but this set of tyres had scuff marks on them so i had to sand them all back. Should i airbrush some flat black, then apply the decals, then a coat of flat clear? should i not do the flat black? i just dunno.

I have tried brushing both flat black, flat clear and gloss clear but it looks brushed on! lol

any tips would be greatly appreciated.

sand them as good as you can (finish with 800 or 1000 grit paper) wash and brush paint with glycerin (buy it at pharmacy), then apply decals and then glycerin again. It should be good, you don't need absolutely perfect gloss surface for Tamiya tire decals.

Very interesting tip
Why glycerine? What does it do?

Glycerin gives natural shine and soften rubber so that sanding marks become very soft and almost invisible.
