03 Impala instrument/dash lights won't come on

I think I shorted the instrument panel lights. I checked all fuses and none are poped. Is there another protection for them like a circuit breaker or relay. The The radio plays and all the instruments work. The radio and drive indicator are fine when the lights are off , but go real dim when lights are on at night.

Have you tryed to turn the dimmer switch up ?

Check that your parking brake is off.

I am having the same problem, cannot figure it out. Its not the dimmer switch, or the parking brake. Once it turns dust and the headlights switch over the dashboard goes 98% completely dark. Anybody Know??

It's probably the headlamp/instrument panel dimmer switch itself that's bad. If the DRL's work and the problem only occurs when the lights come on, that's my best course of action.

kick with your hand the instrument panel light and it will come on
