weird stall......

Sup guys, I got a new one for you guys....... I was driving down the freeway when suddenly the car stalled, I pulled to the side and waited about 1/2 hour or so then the cars started up again.........?????????runaround Right, first thing that came to mind was the fuel pump, right..... but then I thought of the relays to the fuel pump and the fuel regulator and so on. My ? is this...... whats the longevity of the alledge pump< since at AUTO ZONE is worth $420 bills (I can just imagine the dealer) i would imagine its a good, dependable pump. And which are most likely to give out first, the relays or the fuel pump, or a combo of both. By the way after it started back again, it has not done it again, and you know when it over heats it tends to do that, but again, it has not done it again. And im in phoenix/mesa AZ. where today it was a high of 107...... I believe. Your input on this will be vary much appreciated.

Re: weird stall......

i would start with the relay, it sounds to me that would be it. the relay is a heck of a lot cheaper(i would think easier to get to as well) the fuel pump requires a tank drop so i would avoid that by all means.

Thumbs up Re: weird stall......

I would agree that taking the pump out is a rediculous bitch if you don't own a shop, or lifts, but i went through four electric fuel pumps in a year before i redid the wiring to the pump myself and i havent had a problem since. I have mine on a toggle switch with only one fuseable link. I hear that most pump problems for most f-body owners are taken care of the same way. After I did that. The timing is still off a bit but having a switch to turn before you start your own car doesnt seem like that bad of an idea. I could tell you a million reasons to do it but I'll let someone smarter than I explain it to ya. good luck. If ya have any ?s about how i did it I'm on here every day.

Re: weird stall......

i did kind of the same thing with my avenger when my relay went out, i had no idea where to find it, so i just ran a wire from my cigarette lighter to my fuel pump(which was under the seat, very easy to get to) so anytime the key was in the "on" position, the fuel pump was running

I did, I even switched the air compressor relay for the fuel pump relay to see if that was it, but no the air conditioner worked fine.
