wheel rim adapters

im looking to get some rims for my caprice but cant seem to find a set that i like and the ones i do like are in the 5x5 bolt pattern. I came across these wheel rim adapters which alow me to bolt on a 5x5 wheel on my 4.75 car and was wondering how safe, if at all, these things are. heres the link...

Re: wheel rim adapters

Try a new link - that one didn't work.

However, I can't see that an adapter such as you're describing being very safe.

Re: wheel rim adapters

deesandvees, I really like your avatar.

Anyway, after looking at the adapters I thing in the long term, they may not hold up being they are only aluminum and they will be supporting the weight of such a heavy vehicle. The weight distribution will also be rougher on the bolts because it it pushing the wheel out further and will give the wheel "leverage" for lack of better word. Since the wheel will be out further than the original design, it may lead to clearance issues in the wheel well. But if you want those particular rims so badly, I guess it's worth a shot.

Re: wheel rim adapters

Daytons come with steel adapters so no need to worry. And oh yah don't forget the Vogues.

Re: wheel rim adapters

Quite a few people use those on 4x4's and what not as spacers without problems. I'll be using them on my blazer.
