GM Radio/Car stereo wiring color codes HELP!
I'm trying to understand the color codes for the wires/plug on my 1998 Trans Sport. At www.installdr.com they have the the plug pin out info for GM 1989/90 and newer... http://www.installdr.com/QuickWiring.html click on the GM/Saturn link and open the pdf doc and you will see what I'm talking about.
Only problem is the plug in my van has a extra 6 pins ? (top left part of the plug when viewing it from the diagram on installdr.com. What are these 6 pins for ? Can I omit them from a after market stereo install ? Maybe something to do with the internal chimes ? Or extra (unknown) speakers ?? Thanks for the help. |

Re: GM Radio/Car stereo wiring color codes HELP!
Not getting much action here...
I priced the the adapter plug here in Ottawa and they want 25 bucks for it! Frig that! 25 for a piece of plastic and some wires. I'd butcher the original radio or goto a scrap yard and get a old radio and make a female out of that first! But I wont have to as I tend to solder and shrink wrap everything I do when it comes to electronic repair at my place. I'm installing a nice Denon head unit (with a pink/red display). A sub woofer box with twin 10's/ 550w amp Sony, and two satellite Sony's to add to the rear (Craig 165w amp) and some super tweeter's for the dash (Pioneer true40w amp). Sheerwood 3way active crossover. Plus all the original speakers in the van.. 4x6.5's running off the head unit (4x45w) and everything else off rear power amp's. What can I say... I like tunedge in my mobile. I like to block out the world every now and then ![]() Cheers |
