Tamiya 1/12 Ferrari 312B - References

Hi all,

a bit of a late comer to the party but Im going to build the 1/12 Ferrari 312B as part of the Ferrari 60th Anniversary Group Build.

Can anyone point me in the right direction of books / websites / or indeed send me some pictures they already have of the car please.

I laready have a few but know where near enough to do the model justice and you all know me by now, can't possibly build it OOB.

Just hope I can get it finished in time.

thanks in advance

Re: Tamiya 1/12 Ferrari 312B - References

These old 312s have recently become one of my favorite subjects. I first noticed them in the 'Shell' commercial that most people know about (historic Ferarris). I just love the 68 (I think) car with the exhaust pipe arrangement on top of the engine. Beautiful.... (and the sound is pretty awesome too....) Hope to see one of these in person some day....

Good luck with the build. No references to offer, but if you find a 'goldmine' of stuff, please post links or info. Thanks.

Murray

Hi Sean,

I've got a book somewhere with one or two useful pics - I'll see if I can do some scans over the w/end. IIRC, they still have one at the Donington Museum, which may help your search.

I've not built the kit yet but had a really good look over it a while back. My main issue with it is that the kit tyres are faaaaar too wide - don't know what they were smoking in the Tamiya factory at the time! Also, most of the period pictures show the car with slicks - I remember thinking that the Lotus 72 tyres might make a suitable substitute. The quited red dogtooth cockpit material will be fun to make too - amazed someone hasn't made a 1/12th decal for that yet!

Re: Tamiya 1/12 Ferrari 312B - References

The 312B is the 1970 car and 1971 untill Zandvoort, Holland right? On the 4th of july Ferrari brought the 312 B2 to the French GP, so the 312B only raced in the first half of the 1971 season. I have some pics of this car from a book. I can send them if you can PM me your email. Do you also need pics of the 312 B2 and the 312 of the 1968/1969 season?

Dr. Bob,

many thanks for your offer of help. I am aiming to do a 1970/71 car and probably the Jacky Ickx model, thanks but no need for the 312B2 late season '71 pics or of the 1968 season, however the 1969 ones may be handy. If you email me at [email protected] I can pick them up there.

Once again many thanks for this, very kind!
