I Need Some Pointers Please Help?
Okay so my parents and I agreed on what i think is a perfect deal. My parents told me if i payed me way through Drivers Ed($550), which i did and passed, that they would give me $10,000 towards my 1st car. So i thought to myself i should get a cheap car and use the money i have in the bank and whats left over from the $10,000 to put towards parts.
The car i was thinking about buying is a Nissan 240SX. I was wondering if anyone could give me some pointers on what year the car should be and some other pointers on what parts to put in my 240SX to make it faster and better. I would greatly appreciate any pointers that anyone would have for me...Yes i would be what you call a "Newbie" when it comes to cars and parts. |

Re: I Need Some Pointers Please Help?
well generally i believe that s13 89-94 240's can handle better due to being lighter, however the s14 94-98 cars do have a stiffer chassis stock. best thing to do is pick which one you like the looks of the best and go from there.
however if you buy a s13, you'll have alot more money to dump into parts

Re: I Need Some Pointers Please Help?
you should buy an S13 (91+ if possible) for the simple reason of it being cheaper. you're likely to crash your first car, especially if you're into driving fast/drifting. when you total it, just swap your parts into another cheap shell. as for parts, you either go turbo, which you have plenty of cash to do, or get smoked all day by hondas. you need to learn more about cars before you consider doing anything, or else you'll end up with something you never wanted. you're probably best off checking out a 240 that already has work done to it and posting up pics here so we can tell you if its any good or not.
but a fast 240 wont last very long in the hands of a brand new driver. just a fact...

Re: I Need Some Pointers Please Help?
get a 240. Have a reputable shop do an sr20 swap. Take care of what ever else needs to be replaced/fixed on the car. Then start doing up the suspension and some brakes. That should suit the needs of a fresh driver. It will handle good, stop good, and be decently quick.
