Fuel pump is loud & pumping fast.

Greetings,
When I turn the ignition on (93 4.0L) the fuel pump starts pumping loud and fast for an extended amount of time. This seems to be going on all of the time. I can hear it at stop lights, idling and even driving. Much louder and faster then normal. There is plenty of gas in it and it seems to run fine. Any ideas?. Thanks in advance, cowpie

Re: Fuel pump is loud & pumping fast.

Could just be going out. How much gas is in the tank? When it drops below i think a 1/8 the gas can't cool the pump and if you run it down there all the time you can burn one up easily.
