need for speed

i also have a 94 silverado 1500 witha 305 in her

isthere any cheap ways to increase her speed and power

is it worth boring out the cylinders without replacing the pistons, just the rings and putting a performance computer chip in?

thanks

There is nothing "cheap" when it comes to speed & power.

A bore job requires bigger pistons. Maybe you were thinking about a "hone" job. Honing the cylinders removes the glaze. You will still need to mic the cylinders for wear and if worn too much then you will have to bore it.

Re: need for speed

yeah only bolt on stuff is cheap, and its really not cheap at that. Maybe a beefer cam? wont help much on low end, but fairly cheap. make sure you get intake/exhuast manifolds or the cam will be pointless. Dont go too big or you will have to replace pushrods, $$$. Or look into new rockers just as good as cam, and if you combine them you will have a killer 305. Need for speed, not worth it to bore and replace pistions for street use, I dont know about 91 but my with my 88 305 i couldnt get a performace chip the ECU was very basic, if you have a distriubter cap on the back of your engine then your gonna have to replace that with eletronic before you can reprogram the ECU (If you even can?) do you have the 2 fuel injectors right underneath your air filter? I always thought it would be super easy to add a nitrous injector there

Re: need for speed

They do offer a super chip for that truck. they are not "re-programable" you have to buy they chip as they come out of the package. they typically sell 3 different types depending on what you want.

Re: need for speed

I do not think 17 ponies is going to add that much strain to the brakes.

I didn't see him asking for 17hp. All I saw was "Need for speed" And I instantly thought "Need to remove speed"
