Wanted: Info & Air Suspension Compressor (working)
Hey Mike.. got your attention 'eh
![]() I need to know what's the Max pressure a typical Suspension Compressor will pump up to. Also, is there a "best" one to get hold of for quick response and max pressure? Ford, GM, Chrysler? I have a project in the works that adds an air tank to my daily driver, and some air accessories. I have all the valves, lines, ABS tank, and assorted goodies.. just need to choose a CHEAP and efficient compressor. I'm not dropping $3~$400 on a Viair or the likes, heck my garage compressor cost me $100 ![]() So, I'm hoping to cycle 100/120+ psi in a roughly 2/3 gallon ABS plastic tank, or maybe I'm dreaming

Dont know if its impolite to respond to a direct question and if so my apologies.
Hey Town Car. If the one in the garage is the rightsize use it. If it is 120 volts A.C. and draws 7 amps you can pick up a decent power inverter that hard wires to battery. I have a 1200 watt that I paid 120 bucks for. Runs what a 10 amp curcuit would run in the house. Refrigerator and freezer with some lights if you loose power for a couple of days. Beats a loud generator out back. Good Luck |

Re: Wanted: Info & Air Suspension Compressor (working)
Hi Steve
That's a good question about max psi, I don't know. I'll look into puting a guage in line. I've only played around with the Lincoln and Caddy ones, no chrysler. Moez might be on to something there about running an household type compressor on a power inverter. Some thing like that might hold up better than a suspension compressor. I've seen some rather inexpencive ones at harbor freight for under 100 bucks, I think they even have around a gallon tank on them. You could also use an airbrush compressor, it would be compact enough. They don't usually have a tank, but you already have one. The power inverter will set you back a little, but they are nice to have onboard. I've got one on my yard truck, and run all sorts of power tools off it. Should I dare ask what you are building? ![]() I hadn't even considered a 120V compressor, Hmmm. I do have a few inverters now that get plenty of use during road trips. I think my biggest is a 1200W, it's not hard wired, just a Cig. lighter plug. My $100 Garage compressor is 18amps, 20gallon, 5Hp ![]() I've seen some older 12 volt models that were used for RV's that look really heavy duty, I could get one to experiment with. My biggest concern is space. On the small car there's not allot of space for a compressor, so I need to keep it small. I'm also a bit concerned about the noise so I'd like to be free to use insulators for mounting. This one pumps to 140psi at about $50: ![]() These others are from RV's and unknowns, these also have an adjustable pressure switch: ![]() I'm not too sure what they use these for on the RV's, maybe pressurized water tanks for the sink's or ![]() Here's a general sketch of what's going in there.

Sounds like you are right on track there. I like the rv pumps they look compact and heavy duty enough. The household compressors are way to noisey, if you are concerned about noise. The airbrush ones would be a good choice for a 120 volt. They are about the same noise level as the suspension ones. There is nothing like a good loud horn to let others know to get out of your way. Cool project
