Fuel Help

I just changed the Fuel Rai including injectors. Of course I had to take off the fuel lines, leaving air in the lines. I read this car does not have a Fuel Schradder because it is not a GT. I think there is a bleeder valve on the fuel pump but this is behind the problem so I do not see how it will help. I am trying to get this car back up and running so I need some help asap!!

Which brings me to my question. How do I get the air out of the lines?

HELP

Car:

2000 Pontiac Grand Am SE1 2.4L Automatic

(Initial Problem : Car was misfiring, running on 2 cylinders. Injectors were filthy. New fuel pump, Filter, Plugs, Ignition Coil, Coil Pack, MAF, MAP and more. All problems lead back to injectors. Of course it is still misfiring because there is air in the lines)

Any Help Is Appreciated. If you think you can help post here or just call me. (904) 769-6275 Thanks

Re: Fuel Help

I dont think thier any need to bleed the air out...

It should purge when you crank it over and as the fuel pump primes them and raises pressure.

Your 4 cyl doesnt have any vavles, just the V6 (SE or GT).

If you have already had it running
and its still misfiring , double check that the injectors are hooked up correctly.

Re: Fuel Help

Is it getting spark too ??

Also did you replace the rubber boots for the plugs ??

If not thats a contributing factor to misfires.

Re: Fuel Help

Yep I replaced the rubber boots aswell.

I am just at a loss. I am not 100% sure how to tell if its getting spark. (No Wires)

I do know that before I put in the injectors it would run just only on 2 Cylinders. Now it will not even crank up.

Re: Fuel Help

If you remove the top cover, ground it to the top of the motor, throw in some old plugs and crank it over.

Should see bluish sparks.

Must have a something loose or a broken wire.

Injector wiring harnesses are known to become damaged on these GA's.
NAPA or the dealer sells a wire harness if you find any breaks.

Re: Fuel Help

Ok let me be a little more honest here.

I ordered some used injectors. 100% guaranteed to work.

BUT the plugs where diffrent so I cut the wires and wired them in. Injectors were a perfect fit.

There is a wide strap ground on the Ignition Coil (Wierd Distributor Cap lol) that has been cut and is just layed under it. Could this be the problem?? Does it attach somewhere?

Re: Fuel Help

Well chances are the wires are crosssed on the injectors and you're realy not supposed to splice them in.
IMO I would not have done that for a reconditioned injector on a street driven car.
Double check you got the polarity right..

.. if not they wont fire the right way, probly backwards....

So did you use crimps and shrink wrap tubing on those splices ??

Also check the ICM wiring it to can tend to get breaks in the wires.

Re: Fuel Help

I checked the ICM wiring.

Solder and Heat Shrink.

I put the polarity black stripe to black stripe. Is there a way to get a diagram?

Re: Fuel Help

If the injectors you used were the same wire colors then maybe they were the same

I'll see if I can find an injector wire diagram later on tonight.

Btw have you scanned it to see if thier are any DTC's ??

also could have a defective ICM

Re: Fuel Help

Could also just be the wrong injectors, bad connection somewhere, even the PCM.

Double check the ground for the injector harness too.
If its loose, or not making good contact then it'll miss.

Good Hunting!

Re: Fuel Help

Ok I had the fuel rail and injectors tested and they are working. The wiring is correct. However the car still will not crank. It turns over and will run for 10-12 seconds and cuts off.

I replaced the MAF sensor because it had a clicking noise. Well I just noticed it is still clicking. Does this mean anything to anyone?

I am down to thinking maybe the gas is bad. I know the problem must be stupid but I need to fix it asap

I have another 2000 Pontiac Grand am that has been recked so I have all the parts I need. I just need help finding the problem. HELP!!!
