94 Oldsmobile missing/sputtering when I gas it

I am asking this question because my husband does not work on cars and I am tired of putting tons of money into this Olds we have. It has 77,000 miles on it and we have replaced the CAM sensor, CRANK sensor, spark plugs, belts, fuel filter and sending unit. $1,000 later, as I gas the car to go up a hill or even to just go over 55 mph, it sputters and jumps and acts like it's missing. What do we do now? What do I look for? Help!! I have 3 little girls I drive around all day and I don't want something bad to happen while I'm on the road.
Any suggestions are appreciated. THANKS!

Welcome to AF, Many things can cause this, low fuel pressure, bad wires, bad coil, poor connections anywhere in the ign circuit, slipping TCC, someone needs to check/diagnose this on site, not the type of problem that can be corrected remotely. Who diagnosed the 1,000 worth of repairs?

Re: 94 Oldsmobile missing/sputtering when I gas it

We took it to a local guy who did all the last repairs to it to try and fix it turning off in the middle of the road, which it doesn't do anymore, but since he put in the new fuel pump/sending unit, etc. it hasn't had any get up and go like it used to. My husband replenished all the fluids tonight, we went and got the good gas and it still is doing it. My husband thinks he can do the plug wiring himself, but that's as far as it goes. Is this worth a try first?
Thanks, Heather in PA

Question Re: 94 Oldsmobile missing/sputtering when I gas it

Sure, but what does this mechainc think is wrong, why spend 1k with him then drop him out of the loop, now you are stuck with guessing at what is happening?

Re: 94 Oldsmobile missing/sputtering when I gas it

Have you or your mechanic ever figured out the problem we also have the same car year and all and we have replaced the spark plugs, altenator, starter, battery, termostat, and we had the wiring from the firewall replaced and still the car sputters as if it has no gas, or we get a few blocks and the car stutters and sounds like the motor died. We also can not go past 55 mph on the highway. After almost $1000 I too want to know what else can it be....with all the money invested I really hate to just get rid of the car and then it only be something minor...
