1999 jeep grand cherokee stereo/power draw questions
Hi everyone,
I have a 1999 jeep grand cherokee limited with the factory infinity amp and speakers with a custom dvd/flipout screen head unit. Overall the sound for now is ok but I am looking to add a small 10" sub in a sealed box. My question is since my batt. gauge is usually just a little bit below the center 14 volt mark I am wondering if I were to add a 200-300 watt max small monoblock amp to power the sub would I need to upgrade my alternator or is there still enough power in the stock unit to add that? I have the limited model so I already have alot of factory electric goodies so that is my main concern, Or would I just be better off going with a 5-6 channel amp and replace the factory amp and speakers and either bridge the last 2 channels of a 6 channel amp or use the 5th channel of a 5 channel amp for the sub and still replace the factory speakers all the way around? Thanks, Joe |

Re: 1999 jeep grand cherokee stereo/power draw questions
I had a 300W amp with a 12" hooked up and had no problems with power loss.
Headlights and fogs barely dimmed when the sub was pounding. I just tapped off the factory amps output to the rear speakers for the amp input(factory head unit no outputs) Amp power straight to the battery, grounded to frame. Worked great.

Re: 1999 jeep grand cherokee stereo/power draw questions
Did you tap in before or after the amp? Also where did you connect the remote wire?
