Re: Quite a few problems..Please help

I had a 2000 Grand Am SE2 and that damn thing had so many wiring problems. The lighter only worked if you held it in for a while but worked fine for my phone charger.

The fog lamps tripped me out from time to time. If I left the fog lamps on all the time and shut the car off, it was fine. If I shut them off and drove around and then shut off the car, they would come on automatically after sitting for a few hours and drain the battery even though the switch was off. They should've stayed off when the car was shut off. Wasn't the case though.

Another time, I went to get in my car to go to work, put the key in the ignition and nothing! No lights or anything. I trtied to jump start it with a jumper box I had and still nothing. Took the transit bus to work and when I got home I just decided to check it out and what do you know, the damn thing started right up. I traded that peice of crap in for a Nissan Frontier a month later.

Yeah Jim I try not assume anything anymore

Though I bet its the fuse under the hood fuse box if it is a 99+.
The metal tab in the bottom gets bent and doesnt make proper contact to the lighter or what ever else you stick in there.
My kids liked to put pennys in them ,
that reeks havoc on fuses too

Re: Quite a few problems..Please help

Locks and lighter are on the same fuse. I watched someone put new screws into the door panels and they drove one right into the lock actuator. That made for some interesting smells from the door when he was trying to get the locks to work.

Re: Quite a few problems..Please help

My pontiac is a 2000. I din't think I had another fuse box under the hood, as my fuse box is on the side panel, on the drivers side, near the hinges on the car tucked away. Do i have another fuse box under the hood?? if so where?? I have tried holding the cigarette lighter in and still nothing.
Thank you for all your help

Re: Quite a few problems..Please help

bennys_ponty2000, thier are actualy 3 fuse boxes.
One on each end of the dash, and the one under the hood is by the firewall, big square box with a roundish knob on top.

All fuse boxes hav labels to show which fuse is which.

good luck
