Cool 91 Lebaron Air Cond And Vacuum

Here is my problem (first time poster) I have a 91 Lebaron LX, V6 3.0L and the air has gone. Over the last year I have replaced the condenser, dryer, and put much 134a to keep cool. The compressor has gone now so I have removed and will be replacing with a used one. My questions are: what thpe of oil to I put into the compressor? I will be installing the compressor, new expansion valve, dryer, then taking to get suction and recharged. Do I need to put oil in or have the service shop do it. BTW I will be changing all gaskets and 1 supspect line.

2nd when heavy acceleration and ac selector is on bi level, I must be loosing vacuume somewhere cause the air blows out the floor until I let off the gas pedal. Any hints on where it can be happing from? I do not hear any leaks.

Again first time poster so give me some help.

Re: 91 Lebaron Air Cond And Vacuum

Here is the problem. The 91 came with R 12 and someome switched it over to R 134 A. First find out what oil was recomended for the change. Then drain out the old compressor and measure so you can put in that much new. When you replaced the condenser and dryer did you drain and refill with new oil ? If not this is why your old compressor failed and so will your new one if you do not have the right type and amount of oil.

Thanks for the advice. Here is the new news. I purchased used lines that are 134 and a rebuilt r134 compressor. Do I need to remove my condenser and get all the oil out of it? Also do I need to try and get all the oil out of the evaporator? If so what is the best way? Can I blow out with air? I have drained all oil for compressor, new dryer, new lines. I plan on putting aprox 2 oz less oil than calls for (1 oz in compressor and 1 oz in eveporator).

ANy help much appreciated.

Ok so I will be draining the condenser tonight. Do I need to worry about the residual oil left in the system? Do I need to rinse out the condenser and evoprator with mineral spirts before re assembling? Or will the small amount left in be ok? Also do I need to drain the ecoprator core (it's labor intensive to remove)

Let me know what you think, all is appreciated.

Of the course the best would be to drain everything and then refill with the recommended amount. You should also flush everything out with a recommended A/C flushing agent.
