Angry Weird clicking noise when car is started.

I have a 2002 trailblazer and everytime I start the engine there is a clicking noise coming from the dash. It goes on for a couple of minutes and then stops and then starts again over. If someone could help me that would be appreciated.

Re: Weird noise coming from the dashboard.

Usually this is the tach drive in the inst cluster, I've had it for 4 years. If you rev the engine in neutral then let it slow down it changes, if not post back.

Re: Weird noise coming from the dashboard.

I meant if you hear the noise change with engine speed changes in nuetral, it is the tach and would have to be replaced.

Re: Weird noise coming from the dashboard.

Sounds like what I had. My '08 TB has 104,000 miles on it. Quick fix for what I had: I switched the A/C blower to blow on the windshield, put it on high, then set it back to the setting where it blows in your face. (sorry for the untechnical terms) The clicking sound started off by clicking every few seconds. I took it to my mechanic when the clicking sound were more rapid. He said GM had a service bulletin out on the A/C actuator. Had it replaced. Very pricy - it's an 8-10 hour job (they need to take off the dash & part of the steering column to get to the part). It seemed to have solved that problem. I'd recommed you take it to a trustworthy mechanic. Also - my mechanic said there were many service bulletins out on the A/C problem...including the "clicking" sound.
Have had another problem w/my A/C for the past 2-3 years...and no one seems to have the answer on it. My A/C is blowing hot/cold/hot/cold and not even getting cold unless you drive it a few miles. Can anyone shed some light on a solution for this problem? I'm in Texas and it's hot down here. Thanks!
