2000 stabilizer bushings

I've been getting some rough wear on the front tires and it looks like the outside and inside edges are wearing fast. I got under the van to check it out and I noticed that the stabilizer bar bushings are all but gone. I can move the bar about an inch side to side.
Question is: Could this cause the accelerated tire wear? I do get the infamous clunking sound when I hit a bump, so I'm assuming this might be the cause.
I'm going to change the bushings anyway, but I'm wondering if there is anything else I should look at while I'm at it. Should I assume that the bar itself is ok or can I check it? One of the stabilizer links has been replaced recently and I will do the other when I replace the bushings. I want to make sure I catch everything before I have it lined up and install new tires.

Thanks.

Re: 2000 stabilizer bushings

My 2001 is another clunker too Pit, and that's after brand-new stabilizer bar end-links, new loaded struts and a new rack. I've never heard of bad S/bar busings causing excessive tire wear though. Just noise. Worn tie rod ends, ball joints or a whole strut that's out of caster/camber would do it.

Re: 2000 stabilizer bushings

Wear on the outside and inside is underinflation. It puckers the middle of the tire upwards and rides on the outside edges. Sway bar cannot cause tire wear. It's only purpose is to reduce body roll in turns.
