LS Data Errors

I have a 2001 Ls V8, beautiful car drives great but plagued with electrical problems. My alarm system goes off while I'm driving, windshield wipers don't work when this happens. When alarm finally stops, it goes off again when I open the door. Engine sensor data error, door sensor data error, and exterior lamps data error. The headlights also stay off if this happens. I changed the clockspring, and headlight switch, car ran fine for a weekend. I used my wifes keys to open it, and got the same problems. Dealer had it for a week and said it was in perfect working order. Second dealer said the same thing. These problems often happen when it's raining. Can anyone help?

Welcome to the forum! Sorry that your first visit is because if electrical issues.

Any chance that this car is a former flood car? It certainly sounds like there is corrosion somewhere.

There have been issues with trunk seals and leaky taillight assemblies. Since the battery is in the spare tire well in the trunk, check for signs of moisture in the spare tire well. Also, there is a fuse panel in the the spare tire well as well. You may want to disconnect the battery and pull out the fuse panel in the trunk and inspect it for corrosion.

Also, can you tell how old the battery is? There have been odd electrical gremlins associated with weak batteries. Not just batteries that won't pass a load test, but even batteries that seem decent but are old.

I agree. When ever power is cut from the alarm system it resets. When the power comes back on, the alarm arms. For example; if you were to disconect you battery and connect it again. your alarm would arm. This would explain why your alarm would arm while you are driving.
Do you need to jump start your car often? If so your problem may be your altanator. The altinator suplies power to the vehicle amd charges the battery when the engine is running. Inspect you electrical system like Rod said. Ensure you have good connections and no corrossion. Next take a look at your voltage output at the altanator.
