Question Jumping RPM needle (92 accord)

I have a problem with my tachometer. I have a 92 accord and I noticed that whenever I am cruising above 3500 rpms, the needle starts bouncing erratically between 3500 and 4000 rpms. The engine itself is not reving up and down, it's just the needle on the tachometer. I just replaced the igniter in the distributor about 2 months ago. I think the tach might just be going bad or it could be the rpm sensor . I am not sure where to start...any tips or advice? Does anyone know where the rpm sensor is on this model anyway and is it accessible?

Just to let you know, my cousin is experiencing the EXACT SAME PROBLEM with his '95 nissan 200sx. It does it while he's accelerating, and only when he gets over 3k rpm. Weird.

Guys,
I got the same problem for my manual 92 accord. This occurred after I switched to different oil when I changed oil. I will try to replace the oil to see if the problem goes away.

Have you guys switched to different oil for last oil change?
