Suspension questions
I have a 2000 Civic VP (4dr)
I know very little about suspension (i'm reading up on all the faqs) but I want to know what would be a good choice if i want to be able to drive hard (drifting/road racing[autoX])....I don't really care about ride quality. Most of the time i'll have a 2-12" box in the trunk and a passenger, whenever i'm just cruisin' (maybe this info could be a factor). But when i drive hard i'll take out the subwoofers. I don't want the low as hell look....maybe a 1"-1.5" gap between the tire and fender. All my friends who have dropped their cars (some all 4" of the coilovers, some with just springs with no fender gap) have had camber problems, thats natural right...but since i'm not dropping it as low, will i have problems. Right now i'm just buying the spring/coilover/shocks/struts parts. Later i'll be buying the stabilizing bars. So what should I be considering, what would be the negative effects of dropping the car, what do i do to correct them. ??????????????????? Thanks alot for the help

if you only go 1" or 1.5" you probably won't have that much of a problem as far as camber goes. i would just get some new shocks if you get coil overs...

i lowered my car with neuspeed sport spring and the camber did give me a problem until i got a progress camber kit.
the ride is pretty good.

i think that i can help
u should get tokico 5 way adj. shock , ground control coil overs, engery suspension(poloyherthen bushing)if u got money to burn then i sugg. Apex-i coilovers with pilliow mounts.Its about 1,250.00 also their is srtut bars frunt upper/frunt lower/rear
upper/rear lower.i think dc or nueseed it best $170-$230.last would be sway bars and i heard that they make a little noise because that don't install right. Now matter who dose it. Like i said i heard..... not now for sure good luck1 mike101

From what I was told when I called up Tein (yes, the manufacture themselves) the pillo-ball mounts for Civics can't really adjust camber that much because of the design of Civic suspensions, so it would pretty much be a waste of money to get them.
If you go with a "1.5 drop, camber should be fine. Once you go more than that, that's when your wheels will begon to push out. A little camber on the rears won't hurt anything, when I got my Tein coilovers installed, I had them put at a "2 drop all around, and even though my rears are cambered out at least 2 degrees it looks like, could be 3, there isn't any camber wear from them, or slight if any, it's when your front camber gets tweaked you start to see excessive tire wear. And no matter what height you go, GET an alignment right after, usually lowering knocks your toe out of wwhack which will eat up tires like there's no tomorrow.

i hear that progressive lowering springs are good... rides a lil bit stiffer than stock with a lower aggressive stance, but a good ride overall...
oh yeah.. you're also gonna hafta learn how to drive differently to negotiate inclines and speed bumps... u can crack your oil pan... which is really really bad... or scratch your bumper and/ or your muffler...
