grinding gear...............

my third gear has been grinding its not that bad, but its there. any fluid out there that can change that. or would i have to take it back to my mechanic so he can fix the synchros.(im trying to avoid that though). im gonna try that redline mtl tranny fluid. any suggestions??

Tranny

once it's to the point to where it's grinding theres nothing that can help it but a tear down and re-build.

i just talked to a pretty good source and they said thats a sign of the tranny going out. 3rd is usually the first gear that goes out. and they also told me honda has the only tranny that takes engine oil. the same oil you use on your engine is used on the tranny. didnt know that.

My third grinds when I am trying to shift fast, but other than that its pretty good, sometimes I double clutch into it.

Keep tryin to send me the pics man.

so your tranny is grinding into third, well my friend fishcat37 i did his b16a swap into is 89 rex and his had bad grinding problems, we tried redline and that stuff made it worse so we heard from a friend that GM SYNCHRO MESH was good so we said what the hell, when we changed it it still ground a little bit but holly sh## it was like four times better than before, so i would highly recomend that stuff

where can i pick some of that up??? im gonna use redline oil on my engine for now on and i've been told you use engine oil on your honda tranny too. so i was gonna dump some of that in there.

you can get GM sychro mesh at a parts store i think but the most sure place to get it is at a gm dealer. that is where i got it.
