Re: driver side mirror

I have the exact vehicle...busted the glass while backing out of the garage. The glass is so expensive because it has the auto-dimming feature which is some kind of fluid in the glass. If the glass is cracked, you may notice a brown fluid seeping out.

The aftermarket units on ebay may have the turn signal but not the auto dimming. I lucked out and found an LT mirror on ebay for around $80. Otherwise, you're only choice is a non-dimming aftermarket mirror or the dealer one for three times the price.

Go to ebay.com and search for "Escalade mirror". I saw two listings for the mirror glass only (about $100) and one for the entire driver mirror for about the same price. Make sure it has the turn signal and is from a 2003+ model. The 2000-2002 didn't offer the turn signal. Denali/Escalade/Yukon/Tahoe...same mirror.

I'm pretty sure the glass just pops off and can be replaced. In my case, I bought an entire new mirror and swapped it for the old one. I also swapped out the painted trim cover on the back. It has double-sided tape so be careful when prying it off. I think it had three clips as well. I sold the original mirror, complete with busted glass, on ebay for around $50 so I managed to get some of my money back out of it. If you want to remove the entire mirror assembly, you'll have to take off the door panel though to get to the wiring harness. Takes a few minutes, not a big deal though.

Re: driver side mirror

Visit a few junk yards. There are so many Tahoe's/Yukon's/Escalade's out there that there are bound to be some wrecked ones.

I have a 99 and the mirror was always brown. Then it broke and the brown fluid drained out. I'm thinking it must have been defective for a while since the new one doesn't look like that.

The new mirror was put in for under 200 by a by a body shop. No brown tint and it darkens the mirror fine.
