help, mk1 mr2 wiring hell
ok, i bought a 1988 MR2 with a 4AGE in it. that motor blew up so i bought another mr2 that had a rebuilt motor in it but had been wrecked, this mr2 was an 85. i took the 85 motor and ecu but the cars harness was missing already. so i dropped the blown motor an put the 85 in. i plugged everything in and everything is the same except, the 88 only has one gray plug that goes to the starter but the 85 has 2 one that goes to te starter and one unknown one. then in the trunk the connector that goes from the engine into the cars harness (not the ecu) has 5 less wires than the 88's and has one wire that is not on the 88's plug.
that being said. i pluged it all in and started it up, the motor sounds great (EXCEPT) the fact that it is only firing on cylinders 1 and 2.i check spark, compression, injectors, everything. THEN i took a multimeter and i plugged that into the No.1 injector and turned the car over, the multimetere jumped. i took the No. 3 and tried, and it did nothing, i tried the No.4 and it also did nothing. so i am sure that the fuel injection system was changed a bit between 85 and 88 and i have found a few websites that tell me that, but i need to know what the 5 pins on the extra plug(like 12 pins but not all are used) in the engine bay is for (pinouts 85) and
what the 5 on the 88 car harness in the trunk are for(pinouts 88). and the final solution to getting my car firing on all 4 cylinders.
thanks
