How do you change/add manual transmission fluid on a gen2

My car grinds going 2nd to 3rd gear and I heard that it was because it needs more transmission fluid, do i have to lift up the car and take off the wheel like on the gen3?

changing trans fluid

Just lift your car up with a regular jack stand (as if you were changing the oil). Your car takes 3.5 bottles of the transmission fluid. There should be a dranage plug at the bottom front right of your car. You may have to lift your plastic mud guards off your car, I know I have to in order to get to it. You'll see it, cause its like your oil plug..kinda big. Then you put in your transmission fluid (WITH A Funnell! or you won't be able to get it in that little hole). There should be a yellow dip stick behind the radiator thats where you need to put the fluid at, you'll see why you need the funnel...lol. If you need to go to a manual of your car at an advance or auto zone to give you more detailed instructions.

well one...if you have a manual tranny you won't have a dipstick....2 you have a drain plug at the bottom and the fill hole at the top...it is located on the passenger side of the car ..the top bolt is the filler the bottom bolt is the drain. it takes 2.2 qts to fill according to the factory manual use either SAE 10W-30 OR 10W40 oil rated SF or SG grade. the way you check to see if it is full is by sticking you finger in to see where the level is. hth

check fluid

I always thought that in order to check the trans fluid is to have the car idling for a minute and then check the dip stick? I have an automatic, so thats probably why things are different.

Hondas check the auto trans fluid with the engine OFF, after warmed up.

Changing the fluid will not stop a grind.

Both fill & drain plugs are on the right side. Always remove the fill before drain, just in case you cant the fill out. Drain plug - 3/8" ratchet // fill plug is 17mm (i think - to much smokey tonight)

Changing the manaul fluid with out a lift & fluid pumps is a pain, your better off saving yourself the aggrevation & letting Jiffy Lube do it for $20.00. Filling is the tricky part if you dont have the correct "tools"
