starter location?

hello, my car will not start, but everything else works ie: battery, radio, windows etc...I guess I need to replace the starter. Where is it located on a 1999 2.4 liter automatic? Thanks in advance

Re: starter location?

You could just have a weak battery or loose cables. Lights draw 10 amps and starter can draw 150. Test battery and cables first. Starter is on back side of engine at the bottom. Follow + battery cable.

Re: starter location?

Open the hood, and look straight down near the front of the vehicle. You should be able to see the starter motor. It may be easier to see from underneath. It is bolted with to bolts to the transaxle bellhousing.

You may want to check/replace the starter relay first. It is located in the PDC (the black box underneath the hood near the computers). It is cheaper and easier to change than the starter motor. Check the underside of the PDC cover for the exact location.

Re: starter location?

I would use a 12volt test light and make certain power is getting to the starter.
