Side View Mirror

2002 Caravan with manual exterior mirrors. How to remove? I see a disc about 3" in diameter on the bottom that looks like it might come out but otherwise do not see any obvious fasteners. Thanks

Re: Side View Mirror

you need to remove the cover on on the mirror itself with a plastic remover tool, also the bottom cover needs to be removed there is a phillips screw

Re: Side View Mirror

Mines an 01, 01 and 02 have the same mounting. I just replaced mine. I pushed in on the bottom of the mirror so the top was sticking out somewhat from the housing. I used a mini prybar and pried on the back, on the thicker part of the plastic housing thats on the back of the mirror, and used the mirror body housing as leverage, with little by little pressure, using the prybar, finger and thumb, and flashlight in mouth shining down, it finally popped from where it snaps into the center, the two motor arms popped out as well. I used the same pulling effort on both prybar and pulling with my fingers. Fingers were pulling from top of mirror, and prybar was between center of mirror and fingers. Pulling out, not down, and appling brakes as soon as it popped. There are 4 snap/click tabs you have to work altogether to remove the round housing that attaches to the mirror. After that, I replaced the mirror, hooked up electrical, and snapped it back on very carefully using some rags as pads and even pressure. All good now and nothing broke!

I don't recommend doing it this way and please read why,

I got luckly somewhat, the mirrors could have broken any time. I work with my hands all day which I think helped. I am just letting you know this just in case you are like me and thought, "Who needs a special tool you can only buy at the dealer for an unheard of price to never used again kinda tool". Plus I was not worried to much about breaking the mirrors because I was replacing them. Removing this mirror with the special tool is best to prevent damage to the mirror, and/or housing. Good luck!
