Are there any real mods for a 95 code W beside the C.A.I. or a super charger. Not a fan of c.a.i. Never seen the real improvments with them. The old girl runs great for 160 thou but im not ready for a full rebuild till she goes. I guess what im going for is there anything good for the plenium type intakes. Iv got a good performance exaust but all i noticed was sound not power.

Re: Real Mods
the biggest gains i have found to be worth the money are the exhaust, intake, and electric fan....nothing else was worth the money (ex. dual exhaust or headers) moderate gain for the price (bout $150) would be high output coil, and all platinum plugs, even the highst output coild for the '95 isnt high enough to need to go with a performance distributor though..
but ya theres not much that can be done to the 95's its "that year" every model has one, where its like the black sheep of the line...

Re: Real Mods
Generally, a true CAI has small gains (if any) at the midrange, many times hurts the low range, and has a great sound (if you're into that sort of thing).

Re: Real Mods
95 is sort of an odd ball year. the cpi engine did not really have alot of aftermarket parts availible. since you already have exhaust, you can add an aftermarket intake (ebay intake is about $30), upgraded ignition system (ex: msd 6al box, h.o. coil, larger plug wires, keep stock ac delco plugs), 1.6 roller rocker arms, underdrive pulley(s), and an electric fan conversion. You can upgrade the internal parts if you want to spend that kind of cash.

Re: Real Mods
The throttle plate mod is by far the best mod I have done it has done more than my intake, exhaust or chip I am not one to make up things. The throttle response is just unbelievable. And for any one who is not conferrable doing it you can buy it now at this website I found http://www.cfm-tech.com/chevy-vortec.htm

Re: Real Mods
the throttle plate mod does not apply to the 95 cpi engine, only the 96 and up 4.3.

Re: Real Mods
i've heard stage 2 provides a small performance boost in some applications but you must use 93oct fuel and you will get less mpg because the chip/module richens the fuel mixture. stage 1 is not worth it, especially since its for stock vehicles. best solution is to either try to burn a custom chip or reflash the 95's computer to full OBD2 and use a program like efi live, or something similar, to create a custom tune.
