Re: 97 gtp AC problem

What is this guys? A restriction in the evaporator? Or is it low on freon? Have it checked for proper high side and low side pressures at a qualified ac service shop

Spivey,

It sounds like one or more (most likely one) of the door actuators that control air direction is bad. However, this can be difficult to fix without the proper tools, wiring diagrams, component location reference, and time.

If it blows cold out of one side your freon charge is good.

It can take a lot of time to take apart the dash. Then again, you made not need to as the bad actuator might be easily accessible. Then again, how do you know this is the bad actuator since there's more than one? Then again, do you have the diagrams to properly test the actuator? See what I mean? If you decide to have a go at it, you can try back for help.

Hopefully, someone else might have had the same problem and can assist you. Maybe there's a recall or TSB.

If you have manual a/c controls, you're low on freon.
This is not true on these cars with manual single zone A/C. The way the air passes over the evap core, when the freon level is low, the drivers side will blow warm, and the passenger side cold.
