Re: Timing Belt--when to replace?
For the 3.2 it should be done at 100k miles along with the water pump and tensioner. You can go over though, its a non interferance fit engine so if it breaks it shouldnt hurt anything.

Re: Timing Belt--when to replace?
If you wheel or tow do it before 100k. If not any time after 100k. I'm going to have mine done at 120k.

isuzu recommendations started at 60,000, then 75,000, then 100,000.... what year? has it been done before? and while it's noninterference, there are other considerations. namely the water pump (which should be done at the same time, btw) can bind or seize causing the belt to get cockeyed and cut up the timing belt covers. not to mention, you don't want the waterpump going out. //bc

Re: Timing Belt--when to replace?
Yes, the waterpump itself can wreak havoc before the actual timing belt.
Waterpump is behind the timing belt, so make sure you do all 3 items at minimum - timing belt, timbing belt tensioner, and waterpump! Also agree that if you tow or wheel, or live in a very hot climate and then return to a cold climate, have it done between 85-100k or so. If your truck is basically a city dweller, easy rider, 100-120k should be pretty good.

Re: Timing Belt--when to replace?
What about a timing belt and tensioner change at 62k on a 93? Still change 100 to 120 because they missed the water pump?

i can only tell you that i did that kind of skip, and when the water pump went it also took out the timing belt covers when the belt was forced partially of its course. so i got to do it all over again. //bc

Re: Timing Belt--when to replace?
isn't there an age limit of 7 years (on timing belt) if you put on very few miles?
