5.3 vortec swap
i have a 76 trans-am and a motor out of a 2002 chevy siverado...
obviously i need the wiring harness and the computer to make the engine work.... but what else will i need. is there any way of hooking up the stock speedo cluster to a 700r4 tranny? is there any way of making any of the gages work? will i need to replace the fuel pump to something that puts out more pressure? i have loads to learn and alot to find out... anyone know of a good spot to find the answers? |

Re: 5.3 vortec swap
I'm a bit prejudiced, but I would use the proceeds from the sale of the late model LS engine and build a Pontiac that will bolt right in and blow the doors off the little motor.
A '76, if nice, is rapidly becoming a collector car. If a 4-speed, even better. Putting the late model little motor in would have "cool factor", but one could easily find a mid '70s Camaro for that... The T/A is a piece of automotive history, as the ONLY real American performance car of that year WAS T/A. the '76 Corvette was a turd, and the Camaro, well, was a Camaro... FWIW Jim |
