2002 kia rio cinco: knocking in front end

My car is in the shop and they still can't figure out where this knocking sound is coming from. It is only present when I begin acceleration and when I'm about to stop. They are being very persistent about trying to find the plm, but if there's anyone out there who has this plm, pls let me know.

OH, I should add, that the ac compressor has gone out and that is being fixed. cld there be a connection between the knocking in the front end and the compressor?
