Normally you can pick one up for around $500. I'm also looking for another one to play with. Time for a new project.

Hit up your local junkyard.

I found a D16Y8 at mine for 900 bucks. They had 3 other ones just sitting on their shelves, and I could've got one of them for alot cheaper, but the one I wanted had less than 8000 miles on it, so I figured the extra $ was worth it.

slightly different combustion chambers...slightly different intake mani...that's what I can think of offhand. the z6 is out of the 92-95 and the y8 outta the 96-98. the swap is the same with each...

things to consider when you do the swap. a p28 ecu (approx $150) is the most efficent way to swap. with the ecu you should get a wiring conversion harness (approx $150). i would definately work that into your budget. i wasn't very happy with the pm6 (88-91 Si/EX) ecu + rpm switch route. p28 ecu runs smoother. just thought i'd mention it....

A little off topic from the whole discussion, but if u have an hf or si u might consider just putting a z6 or y8 head on ur existing engine, they can usually be picked up for 200 or less.

I have a dx and converted to MPFI using the pm6 ecu then bolted the sohc v-tec head off a 95si (d16z6) and it went together quite smoothly...runs great doesn't overheat nothing.....if you're doing it on a dx d15b2 then you need the vx timing belt and if its on a d16a6 then you need the ex/si timing belt...simple....and its a pretty healthy increase in hp...for now its ok...saving for a b16a1
