I recently bought a car from a private seller and everything seemed fine. Just recently I noticed the engine will occasionally "rev" sparingly when in park or nuetral. Also when I accelerate the car jumps forward. I immediately thought of misfires so I took the car to an Auto Part dealer and they checked my onboard computer system. It came out with 2 errors:
History DTC P0300 Random/Multiple Cylinder Misfire Detected MIL NOT REQUESTED Since IGN NOT RUN Since Clear P/F and History DTC P0341 Camshaft Position Sensor A - Bank 1 CKT Range/Perf MIL REQUESTED Since IGN NOT RUN Since Clear P/F Any suggestions. I already did some internet research about the misfire and I know where the spark plugs are and which bank but nothing of the camshaft sensor or its location. If you could reply to this thread or email me at: [email protected] it would be greatly appreciated Thanks! |

Re: 97 grand am gt obd-II codes
Welcome to AF !
Random misfires... typical, check the plugs, wires, coils, ignition control module(ICM), if they havent been replaced recently. Could also be an injector faulty or its wiring. The po341 Test the crankshaft position sensor. Its located in the pass side of the engine behind the crank shaft pulley. You can follow the wires up to the top of the motor and test from their. I dont have the exact spec on this so you might look into a cheap manual for your car. Might check this link its for a 99 ga but it should be very simular to your 97.
